Townsville 400 Now that the dust has settled and the ethanol fumes have drifted away, relive the magic of the inaugural 400 in July. Billabong Sanctuary Townsville North Queensland is Australia’s best interactive wildlife sanctuary. Visitors to the sanctuary join in animal encounters. A series of unforgettable hands on adventures between the guests and Australia’s native animals.

Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park is a former quarantine station on Townsville's northern foreshore. The site has Historic gun emplacements and a museum open daily.

1915 the west point quarantine station was relocated to Cape Pallarenda. People with diseases were quarantined here until 1973 with only 13 fatalities were recorded. Remains of gun emplacements and search light towers can be found scattered along the headland. During World War two American and Australian soldiers used the area as a base camp and the quarantine station was used as a hospital. It was declared an environmental park in 1986

Open Woodland and vine thickets support a variety of wildlife. Birds, which can be seen, are the Yellow Bellied Sun Bird, birds of prey such as Brahminy Kites and White Bellied Sea Eagles. Around the picnic area Brush Turkeys, Wallabies and a variety of lizards can be found.

Rodeo It all happens under lights with hot rocking country music that will blow your socks off. Forget the hot dry dusty arena other rodeos share with the outback flies. Black River Rodeos Main Performance starts at 7 pm sharp with a non stop up tempo Rodeo Show performed especially for the crowd by the cream of cowboys and cowgirls - all the best talent from all over North Queensland.
