Port Douglas is just an hour drive from Cairns via a spectacular coastal road that is surrounded by forest and the Coral Sea. The 68 km route north from Cairns on Captain Cook Highway to Port Douglas has fantastic scenery. Take your time and stop at the many small beaches for a stroll and enjoy the ocean view. Stop at Rex Lookout for a unparalleled views of the coastline. Further along Captain Cook Highway you will reach Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures. Things To Do In Port Douglas At No Cost
Mossman is not far away from Port Douglas and here you can visit the Mossman Gorge.
Visit Port Douglas Village Markets, opens every Sunday, 8:00am – 2:00pm on anzac park across the Courthouse Hotel.
For sightseers popular spots include Flagstaff Lookout, St Mary’s by the sea church and the Courthouse Museum.
Shopping
An amazing choice of retail shops and galleries await your visit to Port Douglas. You can buy anything from a simple locally produced souvenir to famous designer clothing and luxury items. Local Indigenous art and crafts are available alongside labels such as Louis Vuitton, Coogi and Lacoste.
You should ensure you take in the Sunday Markets at the northern end of the main street during your vacation. You will be amazed at the number of stores and the variety of produce available from locally grown tropical fruits to locally produced gifts and souvenirs. The Sunday Markets are open from 8am to 12 noon every Sunday.
Take your time for some serious shopping, or just stroll and take in the tropical village atmosphere. Located on the main corner of Port Douglas (Davidson & Macrossan Streets), close to many holiday apartments and Four Mile Beach.
