Brisbane City
Brisbane, situated in the southeast corner of the state is the capital city of Queensland. Brisbane CDB is situated in a curve of the Brisbane River. The eastern suburbs are along the shores of Moreton Bay, to the north is the Sunshine Coast and to the south is the Gold Coast.
Discover Australia’s own Alcatraz - the historic St Helena Island in Moreton Bay, which functioned as a high security prison for 65 years, from 1867.
Many historic buildings have been preserved, but the majority of the CBD now are high rise buildings. Brisbane is very pedestrian & bike friendly. Transports are available on the river via fast Catamarans and on land via network of buses and trains.
Brisbane is a diverse place with much to do and see. You could join a tour and explore the World Heritage Rainforest of Springbrook National Park, featuring many waterfalls, rainforest walking (approx. 4.5km), great look outs and fascinating Glow Worms.
Take a drive through the surrounding regions, enjoy a festival or event. Visit the many markets in Brisbane, it doesn’t matter whether you want an inner-city cosmopolitan market or feel like the country hospitality of a nearby village market, you are guarantee to have a good time in Brisbane.
